Stella and the Mystery of the Missing Tooth review

Stella and the Mystery of the Missing Tooth by Clothilde Ewing

In this effervescent companion to the picture book Stella Keeps the Sun Up, Stella goes on the hunt to figure out who’s behind her friend’s missing tooth.(goodreads summary)

This story is cute and perfect for kids who are or will soon to be loosing their teeth.  Stella is a girl with a very big imagination and this is the second book in her series.  With the help of her friend, a stuffed hippopotamus named Roger, Stella is determined to find out what happened to Owen's tooth when he tells her he lost it.  Searching all over the museum gives her plenty of imaginative ideas but no missing tooth.  Stella is full of so many questions but in the end learns the real truth about Owen's lost tooth.  Loosing a tooth might be scary for kids and wonder why we loose teeth?  This story answers questions they may have in a funny but gentle and informative way.  The illustrations are bold and Roger is just adorable and a wonderful imaginary sidekick.  I think this is a "just right book" for ages 4-7.~
